Big words will get you everywhere. But I can't answer the question. People who know Gov. Shapiro better than me (I met him during his state legislative days) suggest that while he's ambitious, this is not something he really wants to do. After all, the roadside is strewn with failed Democratic vice presidential candidates (Bentsen, Edwards, Kaine, etc.) whose upward mobility crashed.
GOP VP candidates (incl elected VPs) haven’t fared much better, all the way back to Nixon. Agnew (with his own problems), Ford, Rockefeller, Quayle, Kemp, Cheney, Palin, Ryan, Pence…did I get them all right? Only GHWB succeeded after being Reagan’s VP, but it’s often argued he was elected to Reagan’s 3rd term. Guess running for/being VP isn’t all that great a career move…
