My husband, a Marine, says trading a feather pillow for a flak jacket is not a bad deal. He also said great writing, we need you here for our end of times.

Thanks again!

Great essay Kelly! You have had such an amazing career. I love reading about your days in DC. Your relationship with Jordan confirms what I’ve always sensed about him that he’s the real deal. The House needs to get a grip, show some humility in service to American constituents (oh whoops that’s a God thing - I won’t hold my breath) and support Jordan.

Personally, I’m glad you and Adrienne didn’t make it to Israel. I have friends who have family there. I pray for them. I have a friend whose niece was killed by Hamas. Indeed, these are dark times.

Keep writing and telling the truth my friend. You have a gift that we all need right now.

So true. East Tennessee is going ballistic and calling for Burchett’s resignation. We would be better off having Bill Lee appoint someone who is willing to govern, not play stupid childish games. To quote Sen Blackburn, “they need to grow up.”

The Constitution doesn't give governors the power to fill US House vacancies, but there's nothing wrong with a well-funded GOP primary challenge in 2024. Thanks!

I’ll have to take Hugh’s class. I thought it was like Gavin and his Maryland senator 😉

The Constitution (Article I) gives states the power to fill vacant Senate seats - which were a big problem before the 17th Amendment that provided for the direct election of Senators beginning in 1914. Seems state legislatures often had problems filling Senate seats back in the day. But no such provision was given for vacant House seats.

Thank you for your insight and for sharing your valuable experiences regarding Jim Jordan.

He seems like an all around good guy. Trustworthy. How rare is that these days?

I enjoyed the article, and that you confirmed my impression of Mr. Jordan without trying.

As frustrating as it is that someone clipped your wings regarding Israel, something tells me that you will be needed here, in the States.

Best to you, let us all be safe somehow.

Thanks, Bob! You can find me on Twitter at @KHostages, although I don't spend a lot of time there. I prefer Substack's Notes feature.
