We are voting for politicians, not prom dates or pastors. Politicians are transactional by nature. No matter what rhetoric Trump uses, no matter what he says or doesn't say, I don't think "he's one of us." Still, he will give us policy things we want in exchange for our support, and more importantly, he will deny very clear, obvious enemies from wielding power against us. Voting for your political antithesis as a protest means biting off your nose to spite your face.

I have a number of friends who are Democrats living in Montgomery County who are considering voting for Harris out of utter revulsion of Trump but who will also vote for Hogan for Senate as a check against what they acknowledge are the most radical of Harris’s views. Maryland may very well go for Harris and Hogan.

Ticket-splitting is on the decline in recent years, but when the top of the ticket is unpopular, people resort to that as a "check." It happens a lot, and Maryland is a great example.

For a very affluent blue county like Montgomery, I think that it’s not just that she is unpopular, which many voters will tolerate to vote uniformly for their team, it’s also that her economic policies would be detrimental to the personal interests of many residents there, which they will not tolerate.

If for no other reason, Republicans need to think about how their vote will impact the future Supreme Court, the Court that is trimming runaway bureaucracy and blocking legislating from the bench. Not voting is better than voting the wrong way and most importantly, the disgruntled should vote for solid conservatives in congressional races.

Totally agree. I was pretty close to being a "Never Trumper" in 2016, and the future of the Supreme Court is what led me to vote for him. The issue is no less critical today.

In 2020, I did something I had not done for 48 years; I voted for a Democrat for President. In the last couple of years, I was a clear in my preference: I will vote for any Republican, other than Trump, over any Democrat in 2024; but I will vote for any Democrat over Trump.

I voted for Reagan, both Bushes, Dole, McCain and Romney. However I will not vote for Trump, especially after 187 minutes that he let police officers be assaulted on January 6th. Our party had the opportunity to convict Trump in 2021, and but failed to do so.

I am a proud member of "Republicans for Harris." I wear a Tee-Shirt with that statement on it, and I have a sign saying that in front of my home, and on my car. I look forward to the end of the Trump Cult of Personality where Republicans again stand for lower taxes, less spending, and a strong National Defense, you know like Ronald Reagan. But I will not stand for Donald Trump, and the mob who desecrated the Capitol, and the Chamber of the Senate where you worked for so many years.

No, but you will vote for the people who supported burning small businesses in Portland, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis; people who think drag shows for kids are an important means of indoctrination; people who supported dismissing soldiers because of their views on the vaccine; the unconstitutional forgiveness of hundreds or billions of dollars in student debt; people who want to force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions; in fact, people who support allowing abortion without any restrictions whatsoever; the people who mismanaged our withdrawal from Afghanistan so severely that they encouraged Putin to invade Ukraine; the people who gave billions of dollars to Iran who uses that to advance their nuclear weapons programs and fund Hamas and Hezbollah. These people protested the criminal riots at the Capitol as trying to overthrow the government. At the same time, they use legal briefs and influence to overthrow our system of checks and balances by packing the Supreme Court. Their attempts to undermine democracy are done in nice suits in front of favorable judges.

I can see why you are so proud.
